Under CBD, not only the resource countryfs sovereign rights over their bio-resources are upheld, the results achieved from any research and development activities from these bio-resources will also be protected.
While NGS legally holds the right to perform researches and the use of bio-resources in Malaysia, any profit arising from commercial use will be returned to Malaysia together with the transfer of technology, allowing Malaysia to initiate its own R&D on bio-resources for the future.
Under the Collaborative Research Agreements with NGS, others company may legally have access to the bio-resources in Malaysia for the purpose of research.
